Abbey's Dance Recital

Here is some video and pictures from Abbey's dance recital this evening. You can see that Jane was more interested in the fish aquarium than the dancing.

Jane's communication

Jane seems to be taking her sweet time learning to talk, but she can communicate. For the longest while she has just responded to me asking a series of questions until I have correctly guessed what she wants. She will frown and say no until I have guessed right, and when the answer is yes, she gets really excited and occasionally says "yes." I've been wanting to capture it on video, so this morning when she was finished with breakfast, I asked if she wanted a bath, this was her reaction.

Abbey's Littlest Petshop Birthday Party

Abbey celebrated her 7th birthday this Saturday. She had her friends over for a party and they played all kinds of fun animal games. We all got a kick out of the monkey freeze dance. We all think Mom was the best participant in this game.

"Thanks" to Aunt Eleanor for helping make this awesome monkey poster for our game, "Pin the Tail on the Monkey."

Jazz vs Houston Game 4

Emily and I had a blast at the Jazz game last night. Deron Williams had a couple of great plays near the end of the game. I found the highlight on youtube. The video isn't that great, but it kind of gives you a sense of how loud it was in the arena.

The Price of Gas

Even the pope thinks the price of gas is too high!

At the Zoo

We decided to take the girls to the zoo for our last day of Spring Break. We had no idea that everyone else on Spring Break had the same plan. The lines looked huge, but the girls figured that since we had already driven an hour to get there we might as well stay, after all they waited in some long lines at Disneyland. (Cory and I had a hard time equating long lines at Hogle zoo and long lines at Disneyland.) There was a lot of waiting involved but the girls found it worth th wait. Our first stop was "The Ghost of the Bayou" a special exhibit of a white alligator.

We saw some elephants. We were excited because we read in the newspaper a few days ago that the zoo is expecting a baby elephant next year (I think).

We also enjoyed watching the penguins waddle around.

We also loved seeing the black bear actually moving around instead of sleeping in its cave.

Jane kept pointing at the animals and even ventured to say "amul" instead of her usual "vu-vu."

We got to see the giraffes, and were really excited to see the baby giraffe. It was already over 6 feet tall. This isn't a picture of it because he was very popular.

Last but not least, we saw the Gorilla. Abbey even got to compare her size to that of the Gorilla.

A swingin' good time!

Today we went to South Jordan to visit our friends the Browns and to pick up our new camera. We had lots of fun trying it out, and the kids had lots of fun playing. Olivia and Jenna especially had fun getting "underdogs."

Twilight Trailer

I thought it might be fun for any other Twilight fans to watch this, there are a few other trailers too. I really got a kick out of the second one (I think--it says "with the real Edward and Bella") because there were a lot of clips of "Edward" as Cedric Diggory. It's not looking as impressive as I was hoping, but I really liked the books. I am anxiously awaiting the final installment, Breaking Dawn.

This trailer actually has clips from the movie, apparently these are all fan made, but this one at least resembles the story we've all read.

Don't you LOVE tax refunds!

I just found this picture of our new couch and thought I'd post it since yesterday was tax day and we were able to get this with our refund.

Easter Dresses

Every year we have gone to Neilson's Grove to have Easter pictures taken of the girls in their dresses with the beautiful tulips as a back drop. Since Easter was so early this year, there were no tulips, so I've been waiting, but the tulips still haven't bloomed and I wanted to post another cute picture of the girls on the blog. When I get some with the tulips I'll post them too.

The Value of a Dollar

You'd think that any four year old who had a dollar would be really happy, but the other day when Olivia got sent to her room, she showed us how she really felt about her dollar by cutting into a million pieces. Her comment to my distress (I'm sure you all know what a cheapskate I am) was "I didn't want a soda anyway." The other day when she refused to put that dollar away, Cory said he'd be glad to take it and buy himself a soda to go with his lunch. Apparently that's what she was saving it for. If I tape it together, do you think the soda machine will take it?!

Ronnie Price Alley Oop Dunk

I think that Emily is afraid that this is going to turn into a sports blog, but I coudn't resist adding this awesome Ronnie Price dunk to our blog.

I realize that videos without sound aren't as cool, but we just found out that our camera really doesn't record sound with the video, so here's another silent one of Jane. She likes to jump between the ottomans and the couch. The other day when we were having a girls night out at my mom's house, Jane kept leaping from a large box on the ground to the bed. We all got a kick out of it, so I tried to convince her to give us a brief demo. She refused.

We just discovered that our camera can take video, however we haven't figured out how to get sound yet. Here's our first attempt. Notice the pen in one of Jane's hands and the cell phone in the other. She likes to draw on anything and everything--even our new couches! And she knows that moms must talk on the phone since her mom is sooo good at it! She also knows where her nose, eyes, ears and hair are.

The Playoffs are coming!

We didn't go to a lot of Jazz games this year but have followed them all year. It's a good thing we have a DVR or the kids would be mad at Dad for never letting them watch their favorite shows.
David Archuletta is one of our favorite American Idol Contestants. Watching the show each week has become a real obsession in our family. At least it's a good motivator to get the kids to clean their rooms.

Here are some cute pictures of the girls:

We're making up for lost time! Olivia was quite the princess at her birthday tea party(last October). The girls and their friends(from top to botton sledding Sada Wright, Anne, Abbey, Alexis Wright and Olivia) had a great time this winter sledding down our back yard hill and playing in the snow. Jane was too cute in her furry pink boots so we had to include the picture of her.

We're Back

After viewing numerous friends and family blogs, we have decided to start blogging again. We have enjoyed keeping up with friends and family through viewing blogs so we have decided to start blogging again to share some or our family experiences with friends and family
